The problem today happened in one long old doc and one short new doc that I just started yesterday and only has 50 words total in savf whole doc. The short new microsotf definitely hadn't had RTF copied and pasted into it a source of the problem someone else suggested.

Another long old doc saved fine when the other two didn't. Starting Word frde Safe mode would be a good test if this problem occurred with any regularity. But rfee doesn't. I've got the same 3 docs open now, I'm compulsively saving all, every few minutes, and no problem at all.

And I didn't start Word in Safe mode. And until yesterday, I haven't had this problem in months. Saving every few minutes seems to be the best thing. Until I switch to Open Office or some other alternative.
